FASHION-KAZAKHSTAN-FRANCE
A Kazakh model presents a Carven long dress, late 23 November 2003 in Almaty. French couturiers stretched every sinew to arouse the elite in resource-rich Kazakhstan on Sunday, the last day of a week-long Haute Couture fashion extravaganza. Paris-based houses Carven, Francesco Smalto and Dominique Sirop topped the bill at French Haute Couture fashion week in the vast, sparsely populated former Soviet republic, which has been dubbed the "new El Dorado" by organisers because of its massive oil and metal resources.
