MIDEAST-PALESTINIAN-ISRAEL-ARAFAT
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat meets with a delegation from Jerusalem Governorate 26 November 2003 in Ramallah. Arafat and Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei have been generally supportive of the Geneva Initiative, an alternative Middle East peace plan which is being launched in Switzerland, although they have stopped short of officially endorsing it. The chief driving force on the Israeli side is former justice minister Yossi Beilin, one of the architects of the now-defunct Oslo peace accords, while the main Palestinian instigator is former information minister and Arafat confidant Yasser Abed Rabbo.
