Abbe Appolinaire Maloumalou (C), head of of the Independent Electoral Committee of the Republic of Congo and head of the Central African Union observers Committee speaks at a press point in Libreville on September 01, 2009. He said that Gabon's presidential election fell in line with legal provisions but had been marred by "irregularities" and "weaknesses". he AU urged the main candidates -- Ali Bongo, Pierre Mamboundou and Andre Mba Obama -- to "show confidence in the competent institutions of the republic and to take account of the results that they will proclaim in the strict respect for the choice of the Gabonese people."
