BRITAIN-ATTACKS-ADJI BADAT

The 24-year-old British Muslim scholar was to appear in a London court today charged with conspiring to cause an explosion with "shoe bomber" Richard Reid, the Briton jailed in the US this year for trying to blow up a passenger plane. As Britain remained on a heightened state of alert against a feared terrorist attack in the run-up to Christmas, police charged Sajid Badat with being part of a plot to bomb an unnamed target.
