SWEDEN-NOBEL PRIZE-CHEMISTRY
Nobel Prize winner Peter Agre (L), 54, smiles as he listens to his fellow American and co-winner in chemistry Roderick MacKinnon, 47, who tells a dramatic and humoristic story of his greatest experiance as a scientist during a joint press conference given by the Laureates in physics, chemistry and economics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm 07 December 2003. Agre's and MacKinnon's work put the spotlight on molecular biology, by uncovering pores that help cells to exchange water and electrically-charged salts known as ions.The Nobel Prize ceremonies will be held in Stockholm and Oslo (Peace Prize)10 December.
