Iraqi Sunni Muslim women pray at Baghdad-s Abu Hanifa mosque during Friday midday prayers 26 December 2003. A Shiite cleric called for an Iraqi boycott of French products in protest at France-s decision to ban Islamic headscarves and other religious insignia from state schools. After months of heated debate, a committee of French experts last week recommended banning "conspicuous" religious insignia -- including the hijab (Islamic headscarf), the Jewish kippa or skullcap, and large crucifixes.
