INDONESIA-QUAKE
A specialist team from France's civil security service tear the down walls of a school building in the Sumatran city of Padang on October 5, 2009. Rescuers held out scant hope October 4, 2009 of finding more Indonesian quake survivors, leaving clean-up teams the grim task of retrieving the decaying bodies of thousands of victims from the rubble. The military and emergency crews pushed deeper into rural areas where whole villages have been buried by landslides, and more international teams arrived with sniffer dogs and specialist equipment.
