This Intelcenter video grab received October 5, 2009 shows a still image of Abu Safiyya. On October 3, 2009, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan's (IMU) Jundullah Studio released a 55'35" video entitled, "The Merits of Jihad". The video shows Germans: Abu Askar, Abu Safiyya, Yassin Chouka (a.k.a. Abu Ibrahim al-Mujahid) and Mounir Chouka (a.k.a. Abu Adam) and another unknown German. The two Chouka brothers have appeared in IMU video before. This appears to be the first time Abu Askar and Abu Safiyya have appeared. Abu Safiyya said, "I would like to say that the jihad and what follows it conquered my heart. The life in jihad is the life in freedom" and added that "another secret in jihad is this enormous indescribable beautiful and affectionate brotherliness among the Mujahideen. Brothers from the most diverse countries in one trench. From Russia, from Morocco, from Tunesia, from China, from Turkey, Europe, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Iran." Germany now has the largest number of nationals from any Western country appearing in jihadist videos.
