Indian flood victims attempt to dry out their belongings outside their homes at Nehru Nagar on the outskirts of Vijayawada, some 300 kms south-east of Hyderabad on October 8, 2009. The death toll from the worst floods to hit southern India in decades passed 300, officials said, as relief efforts struggled to help survivors. At least 1.5 million people have been displaced in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh after days of torrential rain.
