PAKISTAN-UNREST-ATTACK-SUCURITY
Pakistani policemen secure a street after a day gunmen attacked on the police buildings in Lahore on October 16, 2009. Pakistan interrogated suspects and stepped up security on October 16 in a bid to prevent further bloodshed after a litany of attacks blamed on Islamist militants left 160 people dead in 11 days. The nuclear-armed country was left reeling one day after 40 people died in a string of commando assaults on security buildings in Lahore, striking at the heart of the country's political heartland, and bombings in the northwest.
