People walk, on October 29, 2009, next to a menhir and a base with Asterix cartoon character on it, displayed Place de la Concorde in Paris, as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the French character. After 50 years Asterix and his village of indomitable Gauls are still gamely holding out against the Romans, while in the meantime they have become a global publishing phenomenon.
