BRITAIN-CHINA-ENT-ARTS-AUCTION
A Chinese snuff bottle depicting Lei Feng in carved tourquoise dating 1966-70 is pictured at Bloomsbury auction house, in London on November 2, 2009. The people's hero Lei Feng was seen as the embodiment of frugality, selflessness and devotion to the revolutionary cause. This snuff bottle combines exotic orientalism with its revolutionary message, suggesting it was made for diplomatic purposes or for export. The bottle is expected to fetch between GBP 1500-2000 (dollars 2,500-3,300 or euros 1,660-2,200) when it is auctioned at the Chinese Revolution sale on November 5. AFP PHOTO/Carl de Souza
