JAPAN-AUTO-COMPANY-EARNINGS-TOYOTA
A Toyota Mark X sedan car is dispayed in a showroom in Tokyo on November 5, 2009. The compact luxury sedan, which features a gasoline-electric hybrid system with a 2.4-liter engine, will go on sale in Japan on December 7. Meanwhile, the company announced a surprise net profit of 21.8 billion yen (240 million dollars) for the second quarter of the fiscal year, sharply lower than a year earlier but much better than the first quarter's 77.8-billion-yen loss.
