Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva listens as he is named as the winner of the Chatham House Prize 2009, the annual award given to the statesperson deemed by Chatham House members to have made the most significant contribution to the improvement of international relations in the previous year during a ceremony at the Whitehall Banquet Hall, central London, on November 5, 2009. President Lula is recognized as a key driver of stability and integration in Latin America and for playing a leading role in resolving regional crises.
