LIBYA-UN-CRIME-MAGHREB
From L to R: Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Libya's ambassador in Vienna Ahmad al-Malsi and Mohamed Abdelaziz, the regional representative of UNODC, sign an agreement in Tripoli on November 11, 2009 on the establishment of a sub-regional UN program, joining forces to crack down on organised crime in the Maghreb region. The United Nations will also help Maghreb countries in North Africa -- Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia -- to modernise their criminal justice system and help rehabilitate drug addicts, Costa said.
