INDONESIA-CORRUPTION-POLICE
Indonesian university students wearing banners reading 'we demand justice', stage anti-corruption rally to defend the embattled Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at its headquarters in Jakarta on November 12, 2009. The jailed former KPK chief Antasari Azhar has accused police and prosecutors of seeking to frame him in revenge for the KPK's campaign against entrenched graft. Indonesia's national police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri denied that the police was trying to frame Azhar. The anti-corruption commission has led successful prosecutions against police, prosecutors, lawmakers, bankers and businesman over the past five years and has far-reaching powers to wiretap suspects and probe bank accounts.
