US space shuttle Atlantis is seen on November 16, 2009 as it lifts off from Kennedy Space Center's launch pad 39-A in Cape Canaveral, Florida begining a thirteen day mission to the International Space Station with a crew of six. Space agency officials said the mission was crucial as just five more shuttle launches remain before the planned September 2010 retirement of the fleet and the spare parts will add years to the station's life.
