Belgian Prime minister Herman Van Rompuy attends the Belgian first division soccer match between RSCA Anderlecht vs Roeselare, on the 15th day of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League championship, on November 21, 2009, in Brussels. Van Rompuy was named by EU leaders on November 19, to be the bloc's first-ever president in part due to his ability to unite Belgium's fractious linguistic communities.
