CAMBODIA-UN-TRIAL
Cambodian Reach Sambath, Chief of the Public Affairs section of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), guides monks to attend the trial of former Khmer Rouge prison chief, Kaing Guek Eav (Duch), in Phnom Penh on November 27, 2009. Duch's lawyer furged judges on November 26, to recognise his client's remorse, as the landmark first UN-backed trial over the "Killing Fields" era draws to a close. Since his trial began in February Duch has begged forgiveness for overseeing the murders of around 15,000 men, women and children at the S-21 or Tuol Sleng prison, a former high school in the capital.
