This courtroom sketch shows alleged Mafia boss John Gotti (2nd L) and his lawyer Charles Carnesi (3rd L) during his racketeering and murder trial in New York on December 1, 2009. The jury failed to reach a verdict. Gotti was accused of involvement in three Cosa Nostra slayings and large-scale cocaine dealing during a decades-long racketeering career with the Gambino crime family in New York and Florida. But the son of the notorious late Gambino boss John Gotti has shown himself a worthy heir to his father's nickname "Teflon Don," for his ability to elude serious convictions.
