TO GO WITH AFP STORY by Yana Marull - Priscila Santos, a Brazilian Environmental Intitute geographer points at a satellite map to detect deforestation areas in the Para state, on November 27, 2009 in Santarem , northern Brazil. The Brazilian Environmental Institute (IBAMA in portuguese) uses satellite maps from three diferent satellites to find deforestation spots. No new deforestation spots have been found on the west of Para since September 2008. The "authorizaed manouvre area" was created by the Brazilian government to explore the Amazon rain forest without a damage to the forest.
