COSTA RICA-NATURE-WOODPECKER
Picture of a woodpecker (Compephilus Magellanicus) in its natural habitat at the Carara National Park, 56 km west of San Jose, taken on December 12, 2009. Located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, this national park is a very important ecological transition zone. Bordering the Pan-American Highway, the park is unique as the Amazonian and Meso American ecosystems converge here to form a distinct biological reserve where the dry climate of the Pacific from the north meets the humid from the south coast.
