KENYA-SOMALIA-PIRATE-CANADA-NATO
A 57 mm Bofor gun is tested on the deck of the Canadian frigate HMCS "Fredericton" upon their arrival in Mombasa harbor on January 4, 2010. The Fredericton takes part, with others military boats, in a NATO operation to conduct counter-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia, being the closest NATO warship in the area. The Fredericton is on a six-month mission to the Gulf of Aden and around the Horn of Africa. International navies are battling to keep key shipping lanes in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean free from pirates, who are broadening their area of operation.
