A car drives past a street sign, toppled donw in the snow, also giving the name of the road "Sunshine" near Breckerfeld, western German, on January 11, 2010, as the whole country is blanketed with snow and buffeted by gale force winds. Northern Germany was worst hit, with motorways, other roads and railways made unpassable in places by blizzards, confining hundreds of people overnight and on January 10 morning to their cars, lorries or to trains stuck in snow.
