GERMANY-WEATHER-SNOW
People walk along roads blocked by drifting snow in Ostermarkelsdorf on the northern German island of Fehmarn, on January 11, 2010, as the whole country is blanketed with snow and buffeted by gale force winds. Northern Germany was worst hit, with motorways, other roads and railways made impassable in places by blizzards, confining hundreds of people overnight and on January 10 morning to their cars, lorries or to trains stuck in snow.
