New York share prices drifted higher at the open January 19, 2010 as the market digested news of a takover in the chocolate business and a big loss from Citigroup while eyeing a key US Senate election. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 7.03 points (0.07 percent) to 10,616.68 in the first trades as Wall Street reopened after a three-day holiday weekend.
