LONG BEACH, CA - JANUARY 19: Trucks move through flood waters in southbound lanes of the 710 freeway as the freeway is shut down during the evening rush hour after the second storm of the week moved through on January 19, 2010 in Long Beach, California. Southern California is being hit by a series of storms bringing much-needed rain but also the threat of devastating mud slides into communities below foothills and mountains that burned last year, especially areas near the San Gabriel Mountains that were denuded of flood-controlling vegetation by the 250-plus square mile Station. Rainfall this week alone is expected to exceed the average of just over three inches for all of January, reaches totals of 8- to 16-inches with up to four- to eight-feet of snow in the mountains.
