FRANCE-IMMIGRATION
An official interpreter (R) listens to refugees in a gymnasium in Bonifacio, on January 22, 2010. These people were among a boatload of 124 illegal migrants that landed on a beach in the French Mediterranean island, Corsica. The migrants, including women and 38 children, were dropped off near the southern town of Bonifacio by a boat which then departed, officials said. A French official said the migrants were believed to be from the Middle East or North Africa. Officials had said earlier that some of them were believed to be from Iraq or Syria.
