UGANDA-PRISON-MILITARY-HISTORY

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni last Friday pardoned and shook hands with one of former leader, Idi Amin Dada's top lieutenants who had been on death row since 1987. Ali Fadhul, an Amin right-hand man clashed in 1972 when Museveni-then a young rebel leader-launched a failed invasion through the Tanzania border before he [Museveni] finally took Kampala in 1986, was pardoned as part of Museveni's efforts to heal the nation of its violent history precipitated by the rule of the tyrant Amin.
