SPAIN-BASQUES-ETA-BATASUNA-TRIAL
A van of the Spanish Guardia Civil carrying prisoners arrives at Madrid's High Court on January 27, 2010 in Madrid. Arnaldo Otegi, ex-leader of the banned political wing of the armed separatist group ETA, who is on a hunger strike since January 25, 2010, will be tried along with seven other people on charges of seeking to rebuild the Batasuna party under the guise of a new organisation called Bateragune. Otegi was last jailed in June 2007 after the Supreme Court upheld a 15-month sentence for "glorifying terrorism" for praising veteran ETA leader Jose Miguel Benaran Ordenana at a memorial service in 2003.
