AFGHANISTAN-BRITAIN-US-UNREST
In this handout photograph released by The Ministry of Defence (MOD), soldiers from the 1st Battalion the Royal Welsh gear up en mass ready for an early morning boarding as the helicopters warm their engines on the first wave of Operation Moshtarak at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province on February 13, 2010, in which a combined force of 15,000 troops are launching major assaults on Taliban strongholds. A massive assault force taking on the Taliban in southern Afghanistan claimed its first kills within hours of launching the biggest operation since US President Barack Obama ordered a troop surge, an Afghan army commander said. Five militants were killed soon after US-led troops helicoptered into Marjah in the poppy-growing belt of Helmand province, said Sher Mohammad Zazai, commander of the Afghan Army's 205 Corps.
