Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, died after he lost control of his sled and was flung off the Olympic luge track before smashing into a metal pillar.His death overshadowed the opening of the Winter Games in Vancouver and plunged Georgia into mourning, no more so than in Kumaritashvili's home town, a well-known local ski resort and winter sports centre.
