AFGHANISTAN-UNREST
Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and the U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) General Stanley McChristal (C) talks to a British soldier in Qari Saheb village in the Helmand province on the third day of a joint operation Mushtarak "Together in Dari" on February 15, 2010. Another British soldier was killed in southern Afghanistan on February 15, the Ministry of Defence in London said, although his death was not linked to a major US-led assault in the region. The soldier from the 36 Engineer Regiment was serving as part of a bomb disposal unit, and died of wounds sustained during an explosion blast near Patrol Base Ezaray, near Sangin district centre in Helmand province. Also Afghanistan's military said Monday that US-led troops had almost taken control of a key Taliban bastion, although pockets of stiff resistance remained on the operation's third day.
