BELGIUM-RAIL-ACCIDENT
A picture taken on February 16, 2010 shows the two passengers trains that collided early on February 15, 2010 in Buizingen station, in Halle. A head-on collision between two commuter trains outside Brussels during the rush-hour Monday killed at least 18 people and injured some 125. The crash, one of the worst rail accidents in Belgian history, happened at around 8:30 am (0730 GMT), as commuters headed to work in the capital, leaving the front ends of both trains pushed upwards in a mass of twisted metal. Belgian train drivers went on strike on February 16, as safety concerns surfaced the day after the collision of two rush-hour trains outside Brussels left 18 dead and caused international rail chaos.
