AFGHANISTAN-US-UNREST
A Humvee armoured vehicle is loaded with sandbags as US marines with 1/3 Marine Charlie Company build a combat outpost in Trikh Nawar, a farmland area on the northeast of Marjah, on February 17, 2010. Thousands of US-led troops fighting to capture a key Taliban bastion in Afghanistan risked becoming bogged down, running into pockets of resistance and scores of buried bombs. The assault on the militant stronghold is the first major test of US President Barack Obama's strategy to crush an eight-year insurgency and one of the biggest since the 2001 US-led invasion brought down the Taliban regime.
