Over 40 area schools use the gun range for competition and firearms safety classes. The Blue Trail Range, which has been in Wallingford since 1945, is facing legal action by an area resident who claims that errant bullets have landed on his property. Currently there are over 40 gun ranges across Connecticut and many face similar legal problems as Blue Trail Range. With increased sprawl in many parts of the state, some area home owners are increasingly uncomfortable with gun ranges.
