EGYPT-ARCHAEOLOGY-USE

An undated handout picture released by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities on March 11, 2010 shows a wooden coffin dating back to the 21st dynasty (1081-931 BC) and containing the remains of a man named Emus, which arrived back in Egypt on March 13, 2010, 125 years after it was smuggled out the country. US Immigration and Customs had confiscated the 3,000-year-old ornately painted coffin from a Spanish merchant who had shipped it to Florida for sale, but who had no papers proving ownership, according to antiquities chief Zahi Hawass, who accompanied the casket home from the United States. The coffin, which Egypt says was originally smuggled out of the country in 1884, will be the centrepiece of an exhibition at the Egyptian Museum from April 7, Hawass said.
