SPAIN-FRANCE-BASQUES-ATTACKS-ETA
Ruling Basque Socialist Party (PSE-PSOE) general secretary for Vizcaya province, Jose Antonio Pastor (L), Basque government Interior chief Rodolfo Ares (2L), Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) president for Vizcaya province Andoni Ortuzar (3R) and Basque government spokeswoman Idoia Mendia (R) attend a protest, called by pro-peace organization "Gesto por la Paz" (A gesture for Peace), against the killing of a French policeman by militants of the armed group ETA on March 17, 2010 in the northern Spanish Basque city of Bilbao. Basque ETA militants were accused of killing a policeman in a shoot-out near Paris, the first deadly attack on a French officer in the separatist group's 40-year campaign. President Nicolas Sarkozy said the police officer was killed during an exchange of fire with "a terrorist ETA cell" and vowed to track down and severely punish the perpetrators of the crime.
