(FILES) In a file picture taken on February 20, 2010 a cage holding a female tiger with its three cubs is seen during a joint rescue operation by wildlife authorities and conservation groups at a sprawling residential compound of a local businessman in Depok district outside Jakarta. The Year of the Tiger has been billed as the big cat's best chance to escape extinction, but poaching and government inaction are undermining a goal of doubling their numbers in the wild. Just 3,200 tigers are believed to survive in the jungles of Asia and the forests of Russia's Far East, down from an estimated 100,000 a century ago, and that number is still declining. Indonesian authorities said the highly endangered Sumatran tigers are down to 400 existing in the wild. AFP PHOTO / ROMEO GACAD
