SWITZERLAND-LUXURY-WATCH-JEWELLERY-SHOW
TO GO WITH AFP STORY IN FRENCH BY HUI MIN NEO
Artya CEO Swiss designer Yvan Arpa's holds his last creation, a 'dinosaur dung watch' during the press preview day at the Baselworld watch and jewellery fair on March 17, 2010 in Basel. The watch called "Coprolite" and set in fossilized faeces will sell for Swiss Francs 12 000 (8300 euros or 11 401 usd) and comes with a strap made with skin from an American cane toad. Swiss watch exports, often taken as a barometer for the global sector, plunged by over a fifth -- 22.3 percent -- in 2009. But in January, they posted a small growth of 2.7 percent. In the Swiss watchmaking industry, the biggest in the world, demand for watches in the low export price bracket of below 3,000 Swiss francs (2,551 dollars, 2,068 euros) rose by nearly a fifth in January.
