A court in Istanbul on March 25, 2010 charged a former international footballer in connection with a match-fixing probe as authorities questioned some 40 other suspects. Fatih Akyel -- a defender playing for third-division Tepecikspor who used to play for Istanbul giants Galatasaray in his heyday -- was jailed pending trial on charges of fraud and membership of a criminal organization, his lawyer, Sezgin Guraslan, said in televised remarks.
