The President of the Comoros Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi said he was ready to review the electoral calendar providing for the organization of the next presidential election in late 2011 and begin a dialogue with opposition on this issue."If we can harmonize the elections (presidential and executives of the three islands of the Union), and if we can find a legal basis, I agree to change the electoral calendar" he added as the political situation in the archipelago remains tense in during recent weeks and more particularly on the island of Moheli, that is supposed to provide the next union president, where the opposition is strongly challenging the extension by eighteen months the mandate of President Sambi beyond May 26, theoreticaly the end his four years in office, and calling for respect of the rotating presidency of the archipelago.
