A taxi driver pleaded guilty Friday to charges of participating in an alleged Al-Qaeda-linked plot to bomb New York's subway system around last year's anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Zarein Ahmedzay reversed an earlier plea of not guilty and faced a maximum sentence of life in prison for conspiracy to use a weapon of mass of destruction (explosive bombs), conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and providing material support to a foreign terror group. He was first indicted in January on charges of lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and was charged a month later in a superseding indictment with the more serious violations.
