INDONESIA-AUSTRALIA-AFGHANISTAN-ASYLUM-SEEKER
Armed Indonesian maritime police escort a boatload of 74 asylum seekers from Afghanistan and Iran at Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya on May 2, 2010 after authorities intercepted the boat at Situbondo waters in East Java on their way to Australia. The asylum seekers were detained at maritime police headquarters in Tanjung Perak. Australia announced in early April that it would temporarily stop processing asylum claims by Afghans in response to a sharp rise in the number of asylum seekers reaching its shores by boat. Australia and Indonesia blames people smuggling syndicate for fuelling a sharp rise in arrivals of asylum seekers by boat in northern Australia. AFP PHOTO / Mochammad RISYAL HIDAYAT
