ICELAND-VOLCANO-MAP
This latest satellite imagery released by EUMETSAT on May 7, 2010 shows the plume of ash (shown as a plume of bright orange and red colours on the satellite imagery) coming from the Eyjafjoell volcano in Iceland (top L) and spreading across the Atlantic and encroaching on the west coast of Ireland. European airspace and airports across the continent were open today, but intergovernmental air traffic control agency Eurocontrol said the ash cloud could mean transatlantic flights might need to be re-routed.
