RUSSIA-GEORGIA-CONFLICT-DIPLOMACY
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (R) and Georgian opposition politician Nino Burjanadze (L) attend a ceremony in Moscow on May 8, 2010. Putin and Burjanadze broke ground for the reinstallation of the Kutaisi Soviet World War II memorial, controversially razed by order of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in December 2009. It's destruction sparked an outcry from some government critics and from Russia, which has accused Tbilisi of being "disrespectful" to Georgians who fought in the Soviet army during World War II.
