RUSSIA-GEORGIA-CONFLICT-DIPLOMACY
People lay flowers at a temporary marker at the site for the reinstallation of the Kutaisi Soviet World War II memorial, in Moscow on May 8, 2010. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Georgian opposition politician Nino Burjanadze broke ground for the reinstallation of the Kutaisi Soviet World War II memorial, controversially razed by order of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in December 2009. It's destruction sparked an outcry from some government critics and from Russia, which has accused Tbilisi of being "disrespectful" to Georgians who fought in the Soviet army during World War II.
