Chomsky was barred from entering Israel and the West Bank on May 16, 2010, a Palestinian official said. Chomsky had been invited to speak on May 17 at the Palestinian Bir Zeit University near Ramallah, but was stopped from entering the West Bank at the Israeli-controlled crossing from Jordan, said Palestinian lawmaker Mustafa Barghuti.
