ICELAND-VOLCANO-MAP

This latest satellite imagery released by EUMETSAT on May 17, 2010 shows the plume of ash (shown as a plume of bright orange and red colours on the satellite imagery) coming from the Eyjafjoell volcano in Iceland (top). London's two main airports reopened on May 17, 2010 as ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano drifted across Britain towards continental Europe, bringing fresh travel misery for thousands of passengers. London Heathrow, Europe's busiest air hub, and London Gatwick, Britain's second-biggest airport, reopened at 0600 GMT after a six-hour shutdown as the cloud moved east, forcing the closure of Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. Dublin airport was to reopen but all eyes were on where the Icelandic volcano ash cloud would blow next as it shifted eastwards, while airlines bristled at the airport closures.
