World War II veteran John Garrett (C) is watched by his wife as he climbs aboard a 25-pounder gun, during an event to mark the 70th anniversary of Dunkirk at the Imperial War Museum in London on May 18, 2010. Garrett served as a gunner with the 65th Field Regiment Royal Artillery. Veterans came to the museum to share their memories of the operation where 338,000 soldiers were evacuated by warships, as well as a host of other small boats, from the beaches after being pushed back by Hitler's forces.
